CULTURE, SPORTS AND LEISURE
An institution which organizes cultural life, promotes sports and leisure activities within the Kleszczewo commune is the Communal Sports and Cultural Centre. This centre has rich resources which normally are used by the residents and visitors coming to our commune. The most important facilities are sports halls in Kleszczewo and Tulce. In these buildings, apart from indoor sports courts, there are additional rooms which allow taking up various activities. It’s worth mentioning that the sports hall in Kleszczewo was awarded the second Prize of the Government Office of Physical Culture and Tourism for the best sports facility in terms of design and construction in Poland in 1999. The halls are used for numerous activities and events, both sports and cultural.
Sports classes are also conducted on several sports fields which are located within the area of the commune and also at the communal stadium in Kleszczewo. A particularly popular sport is football and the commune is represented by two football clubs – Clescevia and Dragon. Places where the residents of the commune may also participate in different leisure activities are after-school clubs and rooms of the Cultural Centre. The Communal Sports and Cultural Centre runs various sections which enjoy great popularity. They include table tennis, karate, handball, chess, music and art sections. There are also two vocal bands Kleszczewianki and Stokrotki (Daisies) which have numerous performances on their scorecard. The Communal Sports and Cultural Centre organizes or co-organizes many large outdoor events with performances of show-business stars as well as festivities in separate administration units of the commune. The most prominent event are, of course, the Days of the Kleszczewo Commune but there are much more interesting events such as the End of Summer – the festivities which end a two-month-long Summer Action which is prepared for children and teenagers and which provides them with numerous opportunities of participating in interesting activities during summer holidays. For the older residents of the commune the Seniors’ Day is organized, which is a great opportunity to meet and be entertained by famous and popular artists. Also, the residents of all administration units of the commune may take part in and celebrate the Day of the Fruits of the Earth which is organized in early autumn and which ends the year-long work of farmers.
Interesting ways of spending time are offered by the Commune Public Library. It has its branches in Kleszczewo and Tulce. A rich collection of books is not the only advantage of this institution. The library also provides good access to information by means of the Internet since its both branches have Internet cafes which provide people with access to information sources and enable them to improve their computer skills.
